A little bit more about Alex Binnie
Alex Binnie started his tattoo shop 'Into You' in Clerkenwell in 1993 and is still setting the pace for high-end custom tattoo work.
Tattooing is by definition an applied art, and something that Alex Binnie continues to immerse himself in. But when he moved to the coast Alex went back to his art school silk-screening roots and started to do some work just for himself, and these extraordinary originals are the result.
Alex Binnie produces originals and very limited edition hand made prints. Described as 'terrifyingly beautiful', the delicate silk screens are drawn from influences that range from the Japanese woodblock print, the body and also the artist's brief stint as a medical illustrator.
At his first solo show at Ink_d gallery in March 2008 Alex Binnie presented a collection of tense, beautiful and funny originals that showed his deep knowledge of both the internal and external workings of the human body and his fascination with the thing that houses us and gives us so much pleasure and pain along the way.
