The new work, a series of large original pieces and some smaller but gorgeously-formed study pieces, is packed full of narrative. The oils come to life, telling stories of little rooms and spaces he has created, with an ethereal splendour. Tales of glories won and lost, sumptuous visual feasts. They belong in any thinking person's Christmas stocking.
